Tax Power
Of Attorney Texas
A Tax Power of Attorney is when you give another person the authority to sign your tax return by issuing a power of attorney.
Another person may sign your federal tax return if you are suffering from an injury or disease; if you are continuously absent from the United States for a period of at least 60 days before the return is due; or if you request permission from the IRS for another person to sign your return for good cause and the IRS grants this permission.
Executing a Tax Power of Attorney in Texas does not require any witnesses to be present by Texas law.
You are required by Texas law to sign a Texas Tax Power of Attorney document physically in the presence of a Texas notary public and you must present a valid (can’t be expired) United States government photo ID (U.S driver’s license, U.S passport, U.S state identification card, LTC card, or U.S military/uniformed services photo identification card) to the Texas public notary.
We recommend that you always consult with a licensed lawyer, certified public accountant, or a financial or estate planner before creating or executing a Texas Tax Power of Attorney document for yourself, family or business.
